The emGovPower Story
emGovPower is about new beginnings. It is about being the best we can be at something we are very good at doing. It is about evolution, empowerment and a family of employees and customers.
The foundation of what is now emGovPower dates back to the mid nineteen seventies. At that time a young entrepreneur named Ernest Aschermann created a company to deliver financial and billing software to local governments and utilities. That company was HMS. As time passed, the company name evolved into High Mobility Solutions. Over the years, the company, regardless of its name, has been reinvented in order to keep abreast of the latest advances in computer and software technology for the benefit of the local government market.
In 2006, emGovPower LLC became the next evolution and what an exciting one it is. The name provides an important insight into the primary aim of our new company. It is to deliver software products that will empower local government entities with applications necessary to handle the business demands placed upon them by their governing boards and more and more by their citizens.

With the advent of the Internet, emGovPower's clients needs, although fundamentally the same changed significantly. This was a time when people had around the clock access to almost infinite information. Even the profile of our client's customers changed. They were now computer savvy and wanted to be able to access personal account information via their PC's and laptops.
The days of calling up customer service were fading rapidly into the distant past. emGovPower's new feature rich, secure and user friendly applications, now being developed in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), were just the ticket to enable our clients to satisfy the needs of all concerned.
Even though it is technically a new company, emGovPower brings with it not only Ernie’s expert knowledge but in our minds an even more valuable asset - family. Not family in the traditional sense but a family of committed employees and loyal customers. This was the essence of HMS and we took great pains to insure that we brought this quality forward to serve as a powerful platform for emGovPower. Some of our customers have been associated with us for over 30 years and have shared in our journey through the development of local government software to where it is today.
emGovPower is a company that cares about its employees and their families. It is a company whose casual office environment serves to foster creativity, productivity and teamwork which are integral ingredients for a successful company.
